Franmar Aqua-Wash Water-Based Ink Remover is formulated specifically for screen printers working with water-based inks. It effectively cleans dried water-based ink from screens, helping recover screens that may otherwise be difficult to clean and reuse.
Aqua-Wash works with all types of water-based inks and is tough on high-pigment formulations. In addition to post-production screen cleaning, it can be used as a screen opener while the screen is still on the press, making it a versatile product to keep available throughout the printing and cleanup process.
The formula is low odor, 100% biodegradable, non-caustic, and drain safe. Aqua-Wash also helps minimize mesh ghosting during cleanup. Its ability to soften and remove dried water-based ink makes it especially useful when ink has begun drying in the mesh.
The quart size is a convenient option for shops that need a dedicated cleaner for their water-based printing setup. For cleaning, Aqua-Wash can be sprayed or poured onto the screen, agitated with a scrub pad or nylon brush, and rinsed with pressured water. Franmar notes that it should not be used to keep water-based ink wet in the screen during continuous printing.

Q: What kinds of emulsions are recommended for use with Franmar cleaners?
A: Most emulsions will work with Franmar's line of cleaners. Keep in mind that Franmar's environmentally friendly cleaners require the use of water during the clean-up process, so having an emulsion with some water resistantce is important.
Q: Franmar cleaners are softening my emulsion. Why?
A: One posible cause for this is that the emulsion is not fully cured. Another possibility is that it's not actually the cleaner softening the emulsion, but the water that is used to rinse the screen. The emulsion used needs to have some water resistance to it.
