Textile Ink Press Wash

Textile ink press washes, often referred to as press wipes, are designed to quickly remove plastisol ink from screens, squeegees, flood bars, spatulas, and printing equipment during production. These fast-evaporating cleaners help maintain print quality while minimizing production downtime.

Unlike ink degradents used during screen reclaiming, press washes are designed for use at the printing press and are not water soluble. They allow printers to clean equipment between jobs without interrupting production.

Learn More About Textile Ink Press Washes

            What Is a Press Wash?

Press wash, often referred to as a press wipe, is a cleaning chemical used during screen printing production to remove wet plastisol ink from screens, squeegees, flood bars, ink knives, spatulas, and printing equipment.

Press washes are formulated to evaporate quickly, allowing operators to clean equipment directly at the printing press without introducing water into the printing process.

            Press Wash vs. Ink Degradent

Although both products clean ink, they are designed for different stages of production.

Press washes (press wipes) are used at the printing press to remove wet plastisol ink during production. They are fast evaporating and are not water soluble, making them ideal for on-press cleaning.

Ink degradents are designed for use in the washout booth during screen reclaiming. They are water soluble so they can be rinsed away after breaking down plastisol ink, making them suitable for preparing screens for emulsion removal and reclaiming.

Because press washes are not water soluble, they are not intended for use as reclaiming chemicals at the washout booth.

            Why Use Press Wash?

Regular cleaning with a quality press wash helps prevent ink buildup, reduces contamination between ink colors, and keeps printing equipment operating efficiently. Cleaning screens and tools throughout production also helps improve print quality and extend equipment life.

            Choosing the Right Press Wash

The best press wash depends on production requirements, shop preferences, and environmental considerations. Some formulations emphasize fast evaporation for high-production environments, while others focus on operator comfort and environmentally responsible chemistry.

Selecting the proper press wash helps maintain consistent print quality while reducing cleanup time between production runs.
