KIWO Hardener HP Quart is a reclaimable chemical stencil hardener formulated to increase the water resistance of water-resistant screen printing emulsions. Unlike many traditional stencil hardeners, Hardener HP does not produce a permanent, unreclaimable stencil, allowing screens to be reclaimed after printing while providing increased water resistance. It can be used on all emulsions, but performs best when used with emulsions already formulated for good water resistance. Results may vary when used with emulsions that exhibit very little water resistance on their own.
Apply KIWO Hardener HP generously to both sides of the dry, imaged screen using a brush or rag. Allow it to react for several minutes so the emulsion can absorb the hardener.
Drying at elevated temperatures will result in "heat setting" that will
increase water resistance. A high "setting temperature" and long
"setting time” will produce higher water resistance.
Recommended drying/thermosetting:
1 hour at 140° Fahrenheit / 60° Celsius
3 hours at 100° Fahrenheit / 40° Celsius
24 hours at 68° Fahrenheit or room temperature
KIWO Hardener HP has a blue liquid appearance and an approximate 1-year shelf life when stored at 68°F (20°C).
