3802LF Foil Resist Additive can be mixed with most standard plastisols to make the ink resist foil during application of the foil in a heat press.

Add a maximum 10% to 15% by weight. For best foil application results, it is important to heat apply foil within 24 hours of printing and while the print is warm.

Recommended Fabrics:
100% Cotton and some cotton/poly blends. Always test print and check for wash fastness and possible bleeding or dye migration.

Ink Application:
3802 Foil Resist can be mixed into most standard plastisols (10 to 15% by weight maximum) to make the mixed ink resist foil during application of foil using a heat press. For best foil application results, it is important to heat apply foil within 24 hours of printing and while the print is warm.

Screen Mesh and Emulsion:
86-160 t/in
Any direct or indirect lacquer proof emulsion.

Squeegee:
60-75 Durometer, sharp edge.
60/90/60 or 70/90/70Triple durometer, sharp edge

Cure Temperature:
325°F entire ink film. Test dryer temperatures and wash test printed product before and during a production run.

Clean-Up:
Any environmentally friendly plastisol screen wash.

Storage:
Recommended storage of ink containers is 65°F to 90°F. Avoid storage in direct sunlight and keep containers well sealed.

Modifying Ink
Not recommended.

Spot Flashing
3802 Foil Resist may slow down the flash times of some plastisol inks. 3802 Foil Resist should spot dry, with very low after-flash tack, in 3-8 seconds depending on the spot dryer used and the ink the additive is mixed into. Too much heat/time may cause the mixed ink to become sticky after flashing. Adjust flash unit accordingly. When spot drying, the ink should be just dry to the touch, with no lift off, but not totally fused. Totally fusing the ink mixed with the 3802 may cause some adhesion problems with the foil that is being applied. Final curing/fusing should occur in the dryer.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
1.) For best foil application results, it is important to apply foil within 24 hours of printing and while print is warm.
2.) 3802 Foil Resist and its use should be thoroughly tested for effectiveness and wash fastness before beginning a production run. Due to the difference in inks that the additive may be added to and the difference in the type of foils used, prior testing before beginning production is strongly recommended to help insure proper performance of the combined products.
3.) The 3802 Foil Resist is not a bleed resistant product and should be tested when used on fabrics where bleeding or dye migration may occur. Bleeding or dye migration may not occur right away.
4.) Always stir 3802 Foil Resist and mix thoroughly into other inks before using (maximum 10-15% by weight)
5.) Do not use 3802 Foil Resist as is. The additive must be mixed into another ink before use.
6.) On some fabrics, wicking to the side of the image may occur if too much 3802 is used in the mixed ink. Test to make sure this is not happening before and after the foil application process.
7.) The addition of 3802 Foil Resist may cause the mixed ink to crack and will make the mixed ink more prone to fibrillation on problem fabrics. Wash tests should be performed before beginning production runs.
