Flashback Troubleshooting

   
1. PALLET TABLE WILL NOT COME UP WHEN FLASHBACK IS CONNECTED.

A. CHECK THE FLASHBACK CABLE CONNECTION AT THE COMMUNICATOR BRACKET, LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE BASE COMPARTMENT OF THE PRESS. (FIG. 1)

B. CHECK THE DUMMY PLUG ON THE BACK OF THE FLASHBACK CONTROL PANEL. IT MUST BE PLUGGED ALL THE WAY IN. (FIG. 2)

C. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AIR SUPPLIED TO YOUR FLASHBACK. MAKE SURE THE BALL VALVE LOCATED IN THE FLASHBACK AIR LINE IS OPEN (AS SHOWN). (FIG. 3)

D. THE FLASHBACK INCORPORATES A FEATURE THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE PALLET TABLE TO COME UP UNLESS THE ELEMENT IS ALL THE WAY BACK. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY CLOSING A SWITCH LOCATED UNDER THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE FLASHBACK. (FIG. 10) ON THE CONTROL PANEL OF THE PRESS, PLACE THE “TABLE” SWITCH IN THE UP POSITION. IF THE PALLET TABLE DID NOT COME UP, REACH UNDER THE CORNER OF THE FLASHBACK AND PUSH UP ON THE SNAP ACTION SWITCH. (FIG. 10) IF THIS MAKES THE TABLE GO UP, YOU NEED TO ADJUST THIS SWITCH. IF NOT GO ON TO NEXT STEP.

E. IF MORE THAN ONE FLASHBACK IS ON THE PRESS, TEST THEM INDIVIDUALLY BY PLUGGING ONE DIRECTLY INTO THE COMMUNICATOR BRACKET AND PLACING THE DUMMY PLUG IN THE RECEPTACLE ON THE BACK OF THE FLASHBACK CONTROL BOX.

F. IF YOU FIND ONLY ONE OF THE FLASHBACKS IS FAULTING, RUN THE ABOVE PROCEDURES ON THE DEFECTIVE UNIT, THEN CONTINUE.

G. INSERT THE DUMMY PLUG IN THE FLASHBACK COMMUNICATOR BRACKET ON THE BASE OF THE PRESS. (FIG. 4) IF THE PALLET TABLE WILL ONLY COME UP WITH THE DUMMY PLUG IN THE BASE, AND YOU HAVE DONE ALL THE ABOVE STEPS, YOU WILL NEED A MULTIMETER TO MEASURE 24VOLT DC AND OHMS.

H. TO START YOU MUST SET YOUR VOLT METER TO MEASURE OHMS. THE RANGE IS NOT IMPORTANT AS WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR OPEN OR CLOSED SWITCHES. (FIG. 5) IF YOU TOUCH THE RED AND BLACK PROBE TOGETHER YOU SHOULD SEE THE METER GO UP OR IF DIGITAL YOU SHOULD SEE THE DISPLAY CHANGE AS SHOWN. (FIG. 6)

I. DISCONNECT THE 240V SUPPLY TO THE FLASHBACK BY UNPLUGGING THE UNIT OR TURNING OFF THE BREAKER. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE 240V BY TURNING ON THE HEAT SWITCH. YOU SHOULD HAVE NO HEAT OR BLOWER FUNCTIONING.

J. REMOVE THE SCREWS THAT MOUNT THE FLASHBACK CONTROL PANEL FACEPLATE. OPEN THE CONTROL PANEL.

K. INSIDE THE CONTROL BOX, IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX YOU WILL FIND A GROUP OF BLUE WIRE NUTS. FIND THE TWO BLUE WIRE NUTS THAT HAVE A BROWN WIRE. (FIG. 7)

L. THERE IS A CORD THAT HAS A BLACK AND A WHITE WIRE THAT IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE SAME WIRE NUTS.

M. DISCONNECT THE BLACK AND THE WHITE WIRE THAT COME OUT OF THE CORD FROM THESE BLUE WIRE NUTS. (FIG.8)


 

 

 

N. WRAP THE WHITE AND BLACK WIRES AROUND THE VOLTMETER PROBES. (FIG. 9)

O. IF THE ELEMENT TRAY IS NOT COMPLETELY RETRACTED UNDER THE CONTROL PANEL YOU SHOULD SEE AN OPEN READING ON THE VOLT METER. (FIG. 9)

P. IF THE ELEMENT TRAY IS COMPLETELY RETRACTED UNDER THE CONTROL PANEL YOU SHOULD SEE A CLOSED READING ON THE VOLTMETER. (FIG. 10)

Q. IF THE SWITCH IS OPENING AND CLOSING PROPERLY, THE FLASHBACK CABLE IS LIKELY DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. (FIG. 11)

R IF THE SWITCH DOES NOT OPEN AND CLOSE PROPERLY YOU LIKELY HAVE A DEFECTIVE SWITCH. REPLACE THE SNAP ACTION SWITCH. (FIG. 11)

S. RE-CONNECT THE WHITE AND BLACK WIRES WITH THE WIRES THAT WERE DISCONNECTED IN STEP L. (REFER TO FIG 7 & 8)
