Chroma/Brade™Mesh Abrader DegreaserChromaline Chemicals Chroma/Brade

Instructions     MSDS

Chroma/BradeTM is for use with indirect and capillary films. Mesh abrader/degreaser gel will give the mesh "tooth" to improve adhesion of films. Use only on new fabric. Chroma/BradeTM gel formulation makes it safer than powder abraders which are inhalable.

Instructions for Use
1) Read all safety warnings and use suggested protective gear. Chroma/BradeTM is a generally nontoxic, non-hazardous product. Treat it as you would any good degreaser, but remember it is an abrasive similar to very fine sandpaper.

2) Stir before using and then, on new mesh only, spread Chroma/Brade
TM on several areas of the print side of a wet screen.

3) Scrub the abrader into the mesh using a stiff polyester or nylon bristle brush. Use small circular motions to assure consistent abrading action.

Tip: Using a large coarse brush can lead to poor abrading action. Chromaline recommends a stiff, high-density polyester or nylon brush.

4) Starting from the top, flood the screen with water. Chromaline recommends using a garden-type hose with a nozzle under normal water pressure. Thoroughly rinse the entire screen and frame area to eliminate all residual abrader.

Tip: Precision printers: you will notice the difference in ink deposit on abraded and non-abraded mesh areas. Be careful to abrade the entire screen area.

Tip: For large screens: Here's an idea that can save you time and energy. Apply Chroma/BradeTM using a hand held rechargeable scrubber with a circular brush attachment, available at most discount department stores. The small circular action of the brush, combined with rechargability works really great.

Instructions for Use

1) Read all safety warnings and use suggested protective gear. Chroma/HazeTM is very caustic and can cause burns on skin and eyes.

2) Liberally apply Chroma/HazeTM to both sides of wet mesh. Haze removers are tough on mesh, so apply only where haze is present.

Tip: Really tough haze? Use a screen wash to wet your dry screen Let stand for 2-10 minutes to soften the ink portion of the haze (but do not allow to evaporate or dry out). Then, apply Chroma/HazeTM.

3) Using a stiff, nylon-bristle brush, scrub Chroma/HazeTM thoroughly into the ghost-image area on the print side of the mesh. Turn the screen over and scrub the squeegee side as well. Total time on the mesh should not exceed 5-7 minutes for lower-tension mesh.

Tip: Really, really tough haze? Scrub the print side, scrub the squeegee side, then wait a minute and rescrub print and squeegee sides again. Waiting for a minute then scrubbing again will get new Chroma/HazeTM working on tough areas.

4) Starting on the print side, thoroughly blast the haze area using a high pressure water spray (400+ psi), keeping the nozzle approximately 2 inches from the screen. Turn the screen over and blast the squeegee side. To avoid splashback, always spray at an angle to the screen.

Optional: Rinse off haze with a garden hose, then pressure wash both sides, keeping the nozzle approximately 2 inches from the screen.

5) After completing the pressure washing, thoroughly flood the entire screen and frame with water to remove any residual Chroma/HazeTM. Chromaline recommends a garden-type hose with a spray-end to flood the area.

6) Thoroughly rinse out the sink area to assure that no Chroma/HazeTM remains and that any material in the drain is diluted.

Caution: High-tension Mesh Users
When working with high tension mesh (15-25 newtons), and high mesh counts (230 and above), contact with the mesh for more than 1-3 minutes can cause damage. Because of this time limitation, it may be necessary to remove haze on a portion of the screen at a time. Don't apply Chroma/HazeTM to corners where the tension is very high. Dehaze only the print area. Avoid corners, frame edges and other high-stress areas. Minimize contact with aluminum screen frames.
