Athletic Inks

Atlas plastisol Athletic Inks are formulated for direct screen applications on textiles. Atlas Athletic Inks have an excellent resistance, elongation and tensile strength.

Substrates:

Cotton, Cotton blends, polyester and some nylons (generally open weave or mesh types).

Application Information:

Mesh:

For opacity - 60-110 threads/in.

For fine detail or overprint – 110-140 threads/in.                   

Squeegee:

60 to 70 Durometer – straight, bevel, sharp or rounded edge.

Emulsion:

Conventional direct, or capillary films.

Curing:

Gel or Flash cure – 210 F - 230 F (100 C-110 C)   Due to differences in power, height above ink film, and efficiency of the flash unit, a specific dwell time cannot be given. Adjust your settings so that the ink is just dry to the touch.

Cure – 320 F (160 C) Atlas Athletic Inks are 100% solvent-free and cannot be air-dried. Failure to cure ink properly causes poor wash fastness, inferior adhesion, poor durability and increased dye migration. Fusion test should be run prior to production.

Modifiers:

Atlas Athletic Inks are ready to use out of the container. Curable Reducer (1-5 % by weight) may be used to lower viscosity without impairing cure rate.

Wash Up:

Conventional Solvents or Atlas Screen Wash.

Recommendations:

• Incorporating the use of finer mesh counts for your flash plate will decrease the dwell time needed to gel the ink, resulting in faster production speeds.

• Be certain to set flash dwell times on heated pallets to simulate production.

• Pre-print and test all fabrics for dye bleeding, ink adhesion, wash fastness and other desired characteristics.

Pricing:

In quarts, add $2.80/qt. to the standard plastisol price.

In single or five-gallon containers, add $6.00/gal. to the standard plastisol price.

Storage:

Recommended storage temperature is 65-90 F (18-32 C). Avoid storing in direct sunlight or in extreme temperature conditions. It is recommended that Atlas Plastisol products be used within one year of receipt of product. Inks subjected to extreme temperatures or prolonged shelf life could thicken in the container.
